  • Three people rescued from gold coast elevator

    Three people were rescued from a gold coast elevator on Friday night after being trapped inside for several house.  It happened around 6 p.m. at the Water Tower Residences, 180 E. Pearson Street, when the express elevator malfunctioned and stopped about 10 floors up.  Rescue workers were able to free two of the people quickly, but had trouble reaching a 90-year-old woman who was also in the elevator.   • Girl sexually assaulted in Englewood

    Police issue a community alert for the englewood neighborhood after a man attacked and sexually assaulted a girl. It happened near 65th and Parnell near King-Kennedy College around 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 22.  The man grabbed the girl from behind, showed her a hangun and assaulted her in a vacant lot. Police have no suspects in custody.  

  • Deadly crash on Lake Shore Drive

    One person is dead, two others injured after a car hit a bridge support on Lake Shore Drive near I-55 at 4:30 a.m. on Saturday.  The driver of that car died at the scene, the two passengers were taken to Northwestern Hospital after firefighters worked to extricate them from the vehicle. Police are still investigating the cause of the crash.

    Casey Kasem, who entertained radio listeners for almost four decades as the host of countdown shows such as “American Top 40″ and “Casey’s Top 40,” died early Sunday, according to a Facebook post from his daughter Kerri Kasem. The news was confirmed by Casey’s Kasem’s agent, Don Pitts.
