Woman beaten by group of women in West Loop, police say

CHICAGO – A 49-year-old woman is recovering after she was beaten by a group of four women early Sunday morning near the Boeing building in the West Loop, according to police.

The victim told police she left a house nearby and was on the 100 block of north Riverside Plaza when she was followed by four unknown women around 5 a.m. Sunday. Police said the women began to batter the victim, causing multiple lacerations, cuts and bruises as well as lost teeth. The victim’s pants were removed in the struggle, police said, and she was able to flee on foot.

After she was found by a passerby, police said they were dispatched to the area for a possible criminal sexual assault, but when they arrived the victim said she was not sexually assaulted.

Detectives appeared to have completed their investigation at the scene Sunday morning, which likely will include examining surveillance footage from cameras which surround the Boeing building.

Police did not provide a description of the offenders, and said no arrests have been made in the case.

Anyone with information is asked to call police.
