Speeding driver causes 9-car crash in Gage Park, police say

CHICAGO — Two drivers ran away after one caused a 9-car crash in Gage Park, police said.

The incident happened in the 3000 block of West 55th Street about 11:05 p.m. Wednesday. A woman in a Chevy Sonic and a man in a Hyundai were speeding westbound on 55th Street when the Sonic crossed the median into oncoming traffic — swiping the Hyundai and hitting a Chevy Trailblazer that had been driving east along the road, police said.

All three cars lost control; the Hyundai flipped over. Six parked cars were struck in the collision.

The drivers from the Sonic and Hyundai ran away, police said.

No injuries were reported.

Police are investigating.
