CHICAGO — Good news, Portillo’s fans.
The restaurant chain is bringing back its lemon cake for a limited time starting Tuesday.
The beloved cake had a short run last summer after spending roughly 10 years off the menu. A man named Ben who grew up on the cake took to Reddit in February 2017 with a simple proposition: He’d pay anyone with a Portillo’s lemon cake recipe $300.
Portillo’s took notice — and brought back its lemon treat in June and July 2017.
On Monday, the restaurant announced a similar run starting Tuesday. It’s not clear when the cake will disappear this time around.
