CHICAGO -- Calls initially came in that a 9-year-old boy had been shot. But that was not the case. The boy suffered a minor injury. He was hit by glass when gunfire hit the car that he was sitting in.
Police say that gunfire was coming from a half block away.
Around 5 p.m. Thursday in the 4200 block of West Madison, police say a verbal altercation escalated outside a store. Two Officers saw a man shooting. They got out of their vehicle and confronted him.
Police recovered two guns at the scene after they arrested the gunman.
Thursday night outside Mount Sinai Hospital a white SUV is surrounded by crime tape.
Police say shortly after this all happened a man drove himself to the hospital. He had a gun shot wound to the lower body and was stabilized. No word on how he was shot, but police are saying they don't believe the officers struck anyone.
One of the officers was treated for anxiety.
The Independent Police Review authority is now investigating.
