CHICAGO -- A man was killed in a hit-and-run on the South Side around 2:45 a.m. Tuesday.

After he was struck by a vehicle at Garfield and Oakley, the impact knocked his shoes right off his feet, and there were tire marks on his hat. Chicago Police identified the victim as 28-year-old Lee Kline.

Kline was the father of two kids.

Earlier reports citing police said Kline was a documented gang member, but there is no indication as to whether it was a contributing factor in the hit-and-run.

The search for the driver is underway.
