ELGIN, Ill. — The Elgin City Council is expected to vote today to approve the opening of a gun store and shooting range catering to women.

The council rejected the plan two weeks ago because of neighborhood opposition.

But councilman Toby Shaw has since changed his “no” vote to a “yes;” and the makeup of the council changed in last month’s election.

So the Fox Valley Shooting Club will get final approval this evening.
