James Beard Award winners revealed in Chicago

CHICAGO – The biggest names in the world of food descended on Chicago for the industry's biggest awards show.

The James Beard Awards were held at the Civic Opera House Monday evening where they revealed the winners.

Modern Family's Jesse Tyler Ferguson hosted the ceremony. The James Beard Awards were established in 1990 and they recognize culinary professionals for excellence and achievement in their fields.

The theme of Monday night's ceremony was "Powered by Food." Awards in the Restaurant and Chef and Restaurant and Design categories were presented along with a number of other special achievement awards. Some local winners include Rick Bayless' Topolobampo for Outstanding Restaurant and Sarah Gruenberg of the Monteverde restaurant for Best Chef in the Great Lakes Region.
