CHICAGO -- A "distraught" off-duty Chicago officer turned himself into police after a 12-hour standoff on the city's Northwest Side, according to police sources.
The Chicago Police Department SWAT team was called in just before 11:40 p.m. Tuesday to the 6500 block of North Onarga for a stand-off situation in Chicago's Edison Park neighborhood.
Police were called about a distraught man in a vehicle.
The man surrendered to police at about 11:20 a.m. Wednesday and is now in custody.
Sources say the man was a Chicago police officer, but it is unknown what caused the standoff.
There are no reports of any injuries.
During the standoff, Harlem Avenue was closed in both directions, between Devon and Pratt.
