CHICAGO -- The Chicago Teachers union is considering a one day strike May 1.
The CTU is upset about the prospect of losing 13 school days at the end of the year and the fact that a long- term funding plan for city schools is still up in the air.
The union insists public schools are broke on purpose and that CPS needs to find a way around a shortened school year. They want teachers in class every possible day.
The union says its members are ready to send another message, whether it’s legal or not.”
A final vote would likely happen next month.
May 1st is International Labor Day.
