Winter Storm Warning issued for the Chicagoland area

CHICAGO -- The National Weather Service in Chicago issued a Winter Storm Warning for Cook, DuPage, Lake, and Will counties Saturday afternoon.

The warning is in effect starting 6 p.m. Saturday and lasts until 12 a.m. on December 12. During that time, the NWS expects "significant snowfall" starting Saturday evening and lasting through the weekend.

The heaviest totals are expected along north of I-88, where totals of 8"-12" are expected by Sunday evening. South of I-88 to the I-80 corridor, totals of 6" to 10" are expected.

The snow will caused decreased visibility and difficult driving conditions, so be careful on the roads. It's expected to begin developing Saturday evening and then diminish by Sunday evening.
