CHICAGO -- The Chicago Police Department has released crime statistics for the month of November, and they show murders and shootings are up significantly.
There were 77 murders in the city last month -- that's more than double compared to the same period last year, which had 34 murders.
Another 389 people were shot this November. Last year, 201 people were shot.
Police say most of the violence is concentrated in five districts on the South and West sides.
Superintendent Eddie Johnson called the statistics "simply unacceptable" and said the department will use every tool it has available to hold criminals accountable.
