WINDSOR LOCKS, Conn. -- A couple from Connecticut is proving true love can survive anything, even a lifetime apart.

The two were childhood sweethearts, but parent intervention and a cross-country move separated them when they were young.

Last year, they reconnected on the phone talking about what they could have had and could have done together.

This week they reunited for the first time in 55 years.

The two plan to get married right after the clock strikes midnight on New Year's Eve.
