Young man raises money to help homeless in Humboldt Park

CHICAGO -- A young man is raising money to give back to the homeless in the city's Humboldt Park neighborhood.

When Lucas Virella was in high school at Lane Tech High School a few years back, he started a project he calls Help the Homeless. He raises money, then goes shopping for winter clothing, and also fills bags with granola bars, first aid materials and more. Then he hands them out to the homeless in the humboldt park area at his local church.

He's been doing this for a few years, and he was looking to raise $2,000 this season. Since WGN aired his story, Virella's goal was met and then some. Let's keep it going! To donate, go to https://www.gofundme.com/hth_2016
