Trump supporter arrested after outburst during Chicago ‘Hamilton’ performance

CHICAGO -- A Trump supporter who interrupted Saturday night's performance of "Hamilton" in Chicago has been arrested.

John Palmer, 56, was arrested at about 9:30 p.m. after his outburst caused a major disruption during the popular musical. He was charged with one misdemeanor count of criminal trespassing to land, the Chicago Tribune reports.

Jeff Grider, an audience member at Saturday night's performance, posted on Facebook that the performance was suspended after a man stood up and said, "Our side won! Our side won! F*** anyone who didn't vote for Trump, you don't belong here!"

According to the Tribune, the outburst happened when the cast sang the lyric: "Immigrants / We get the job done." The man also appeared to be intoxicated, the Tribune reports.

After the initial interruption, Grider said the man "proceeded to make derogatory statements to several women in the audience, and uttered many ethnic and homophobic slurs."

This incident happened just a day after the New York cast of "Hamilton" delivered a prepared statement to Vice President-Elect Mike Pence who was in the audience. Trump tweeted that the cast should apologize, but actor Brandon Victor Dixon has said they will not.
