CHICAGO -- A coalition of community groups was out protesting Saturday morning in front of a new luxury development going up in Logan Square.
They're trying to call attention to what they call the "eviction crisis" in the area. They say new "transit oriented" developments are causing big rent hikes and forcing longtime residents out of the neighborhood.
Transit-oriented developments are a popular urban concept, a mix of housing and retail that are within walking distance to public transportation. Residents worry they would increase the rate of gentrification in Logan Square.
