Naperville considers raising smoking age to 21

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- The Naperville City Council is considering raising the smoking age from 18 to 21-years-old.

Most council members agreed that raising the age to buy tobacco products might help keep teens from becoming addicted to nicotine.

But, critics say 18-year-olds should be able to make their own decisions when it comes to tobacco use.

The council will take up the new regulations again on December 5.
