VATICAN CITY — The Chicago Cubs won their first World Series title after 108 years, and news of the championship has hit the Vatican.

Archbishop Blase Cupich posted a photo of the pope holding a Cubs cap and baseball to Facebook, saying “Pope Francis can now celebrate with us and he asks for our prayers! #FlyTheW

Chicago Archbishop Cupich presented Francis with the hat and what looks like a signed baseball at the Vatican on Tuesday, nearly two weeks after the Cubs won the World Series against the Cleveland Indians.

Cupich is set to be made a cardinal by Francis later this week.
