CHICAGO — Ex-Chicago Alderman Edward Vrdolyak has been indicted on tax charges.

Court records show the counts are in connection with an investigation into a failure to pay income taxes on fees he collected.

The fees came through an agreement by the state of Illinois, to settle a lawsuit against tobacco companies.

Back in 2009, Vrdolyak was sentenced to probation for a fraud conviction.

But prosecutors objected, and an appeals court ordered a different judge re-sentence Vrdolyak.
