CHICAGO -- On this Veterans Day, Navy Pier and some Chicago corporations are sponsoring a job fair to help servicemen and women find work after their discharges from the military.
It’s an appropriate location, Navy Pier having been a training ground for naval aviators during the 1st and 2nd World Wars.
Career Builder, Fifth-Third Bank, Sears, Grainger and about two dozen other employers helped turn the Pier’s crystal garden into a job search opportunity for former soldiers and sailors.
More than 300 veterans were pre-registered for interviews with companies.
At last year’s event, more than 25 veterans got job offers on the spot.
