NEW YORK — Major League ERA leader Kyle Hendricks of the Chicago Cubs has been named the National League’s outstanding pitcher in baseball’s annual Players Choice Awards.

Kris Bryant of the Cubs was edged out by Daniel Murphy of Washington for the NL’s outstanding player.

Chicago’s Anthony Rizzo was second in the player balloting for Man of the Year. Curtis Granderson of the New York Mets got that award.

Players voted on them in mid-September.
