CHICAGO -- From Super Girl to Hello Kitty to Mini Mouse, a crazy cast of characters lined the halls of the Childrens Hospital at University of Illinois this morning – and that was just the hospital staff.
It was part of an all-out Halloween extravaganza for a group of kids who might not have gotten too many tricks or treats this year.
“Some of these kids are sick and in the hospital and missing Halloween today, so we do a big party and parade for them to celebrate,” said Lindsay Cousins, the Child Life Specialist at the hospital. “A lot of kids were disappointed they missed trick or treating with their friends. So this gives them a way to socialize with kids in the hospital and get goodies and still participate in trick or treating.”
It is a few hours free of tests and medicine and instead focused on fun, candy and costumes.
Creative costumes were on every corner and huge pillow cases of candy collected during the morning parade from staff in 20 different departments to be exact.
It was a fun day for all in a spot not too many kids would find fun.
