CRYSTAL LAKE – A teacher at Prairie Ridge High School says he was put on administrative leave after he showed a political video critical of Donald Trump and endorsed Hillary Clinton during class.
Now he’s staging a protest outside the school as part of what he’s calling an “unfinished lesson.”
“I came across this video, it was last minute and I showed it and I probably was going to show a video on Hillary, and I didn't have the opportunity to do that,” William Walker said.
Walker admits he showed a 23 minute video in class that was critical of Donald Trump, but has said it was relevant because he teaches history and government.
“I had talked positively about Trump in my classes, saying he's a genius at public speaking. I've criticized Clinton,” William Walker said.
District 155 didn't talk on camera but did send out a statement confirming Walker is on "administrative leave of absence for an indefinite period of time.”
The school said they can’t share specific information about personnel matters but recent reports that said Walker was put on leave for his political beliefs were not accurate.
There’s also no word on when a decision will be made on his future with the district.
