Dodgers first baseman refused to stay at Trump hotel in Chicago
CHICAGO — The hero of Sunday night’s game between the Cubs and Dodgers may be a hero in some voters’ eyes for a stand he took in May.
Adrian Gonzalez refused to stay in the Trump International Hotel on Wabash when the Dodgers were in town earlier in the season.
He asked team officials to find him alternate lodging after Donald Trump made disparaging comments about Mexican immigrants on the campaign trail.
The team is not staying at the Trump during the National League Championship Series because of the short turnaround after their win in the division series.
