CHICAGO, Ill -- A hostage situation in Old Town ended peacefully after nearly 8 hours. It all started with a woman screaming for help on a 911 call.

Police say they responded out of abundance of caution because there was an incident here last week.

The cops surrounded this six-floor apartment building after a man barricaded himself inside with a woman.

Officers redirected traffic on Sedgwick Street that lead to the apartment.

This is the second time this man and woman have been involved in a barricade situation.

One week ago, October 9, police were here.

Authorities say a 42-year-old man barricaded himself inside an apartment with a 22-year-old female victim.

In that incident last week, the offender turned himself in voluntarily.

The offender was released without charges and a source tells us this was the same couple involved last week.

People here are wondering how this could happen in a span of seven days.
