HAMMOND, Ind. — Folks in Hammond, IN witnessed an unusual sight Friday morning: a camel on the lam.

The five-year-old camel named “Pascha” escaped from his circus enclosure at the Hammond Civic Center.

Pascha is a part of the Orak Shrine Circus, but he ran away after an encounter with a wasp, according to the Northwest Indiana Times.

Such an escape “never happened before and it will probably never happen again,” trainer Ian Garden told the Times.

Cristian Romero was on a school bus when he captured video of Pascha’s glorious gallop down Calumet Ave. Pascha is now back at the circus, where he’ll be performing all weekend.
