CHICAGO -- Bond was denied Wednesday for a South Side Chicago woman accused of abusing her 7-year-old son.

The judge called 24-year-old Caroline Woods a danger to society.

She's charged with aggravated battery to a child and using a deadly weapon against him.

Woods was taken into custody after police say a Good Samaritan spotted her son running along Lake Shore Drive Sunday wearing only a dirty diaper.

Prosecutors say Woods and her boyfriend beat the boy regularly with an extension cord and baseball bat, even burning his genitals with a curling iron.

The boyfriend moved out of state several weeks ago.

The boy and Woods' 2-year-old daughter are now in protective custody.
