MARKHAM -  A Markham police officer shot and killed a man outside a nightclub early Sunday morning.

Police say they were called to the scene at The Stadium Club near 163rd Street and Dixie Highway at about 3 a.m., after a fight inside the club spilled outside into the parking lot.

Witnesses say a man had a gun and pointed it at a police officer.   That officer reportedly told the man several time to drop the gun, but he did not comply.   The officer then shot the man, who collapsed and died at the scene.

His name has not been released.

The Illinois State Police is investigating.
