YORKTOWN, Va. — A seventh grader in Virginia is celebrating after two big plays in his middle school football game.
When he was 5 years old, Caden Bower was diagnosed with a rare form of muscular dystrophy. He's in a wheelchair, but that didn't stop him from joining the football team. Bower has spent most of the season on the sidelines, so his teammates came up with a plan to get him into the game.
"He was always there for all of us and everyone else on the team, and I felt like it was time for us to be there for him," one of his teammates told WTKR. "He was just yelling to go faster, I could hear him, it was really cool to just do it for him."
With the help of his teammates Bower was able to score not one, but two touchdowns. Even though the team lost the game, they are still calling it a win. Bower said he hopes to play again before the end of the season.
