Why is this Wyoming intersection the biggest thing on the internet?

JACKSON, Wyo. – A live webcam set-up at an intersection in Jackson, Wyoming has developed an inexplicable internet following.

The cam shows the traffic passing through and people walking and crossing the street.

The webcam has been up for two years and usually gets about 20 viewers a day.

However, today more than 2,000 people were watching the stream on YouTube and chatting alongside it.  The chat window ignites any time anything specific comes into frame.  Like a dog, a truck or a runner.  (Note:  You can see this chat window only when you view the video on the YouTube page here.)

It was set-up to promote local business.

Why are so many are now watching?  It’s anybody’s guess.
