Standing in the middle of a fireworks display is not safe, but Colin Furze found a way to do it: a DIY “Iron Man” suit.

Furze made a suit of armor inspired by the Marvel superhero that lets him withstand a full-fledged pyrotechnic attack. A video posted to YouTube shows him constructing the suit and awkwardly sliding himself into it.

Once inside he admits, “This is the stupidest thing I’ve ever made.”

He can’t walk in it. His movement is more like a wobble. But he can see the flashes and flames around him through the suit’s eye holes without sustaining any injuries.

Furze’s other videos include additional superhero-inspired inventions like retractable blades resembling Wolverine’s claws.
