CHICAGO -- Chicago police have arrested a person of interest in the shooting of a 4-year-old boy on  the city's South Side.

Police say the 4-year-old was shot outside of a home in the 5700 block of S Morgan around 5:40 p.m. in  the city's Englewood neighborhood.

Eyewitnesses say they saw a man ride by on a bicycle and fire shots at the front porch where the boy was sitting with his mother and other relatives.
Those witnesses say the man on the bike then jumped into a car which sped away.

The boy was hit in the back.

His family took him to the hospital and he is in serious condition.  He is expected to survive.
