PONTIAC, Ill.  -- The National Weather Service Survey teams have determined that nine tornadoes occurred across north central and northeast Illinois Wednesday evening.

These findings are the result of extensive ground damage surveys along three separate supercell paths: Amboy to Sheridan, Troy Grove to Mazon, and Pontiac to Cissna Park. Tornadoes determined thus far:

  • Pontiac: EF-2
  • Marseilles to Seneca: EF-2
  • Cissna Park: EF-1
  • West Brooklyn: EF-1
  • Ottawa: EF-1
  • Troy Grove: EF-1
  • Ottawa 5 NW: EF-1
  • Mazon: EF-0
  • Sheridan: EF-1

The NWS says it's possible that the number of tornadoes could still increase as they continue to survey available data.
