Dog days still far away, but hot temps have arrived

CHICAGO -- On a hot summer day, whether it's ice cream or a refreshing dip and a cool lake breeze, Chicagoans know what to do.

But that's if you have the free time to recreate. Many others, like a construction crew WGN saw Wednesday, don’t have that luxury.

Yes, it’s hot. But the dog days of summer are still a ways away.

Back in January, we were longing for temps in the 80s and 90s.

Now the weather is perfect for many to come out of their houses.
