CHICAGO -- CPS students walked out of school earlier, boarded buses and headed downtown to demand the state and city start funding schools
The numbers were into the hundreds and many schools from all over e district were involved. They want to make sure those in power understand who they are hurting in this budget fight.
As it stands now without a budget or a stop gap fix before July 1st , the state won’t be able to fund K -12.
Schools are also looking at a 20 to 40 percent cut in their budget which means schools will not open in Chicago next fall.
Students say they feel left out of the discussion and want to make it clear they understand the stakes and they are willing to fight for their education.
