FRISCO, Texas — A man in Texas decided to protest his speeding ticket by paying it off with $220 in pennies.

According to KXAS, Brett Sanders paid a total of 22,000 coins. He then used five-gallon buckets to carry the money to the Frisco Municipal Court where he dumped the coins.

Sanders documented the moment when he poured all of the coins on the counter by uploading a video to YouTube. The video has been viewed over a million times.

“When my fine came due, I just decided I may as well pay with pennies and we’ll make a big spectacle of it,” Sanders told NBCDFW,

Even though the fine took three hours to count, city staff said that using pennies is not against the rules. However, it is also not encouraged.

In response to his penny protest, Sander said dumping the coins felt “great.”
