NEW  YORK — A husband has been charged with manslaughter after attacking a man who attempted to rape his wife.

PIX 11 reported that New York police responded to the incident, which took place in a Bronx apartment building at 1240 Washington Ave. at 10:16 p.m. on Monday.

Police say a man entered the 51-year-old woman’s apartment, attempted to rape her and struck her, causing contusions to her forehead, and ripped her clothing off.

The women alerted her husband, Mamadou Diallo, of the attack via cell phone. Diallo was outside of the apartment at the time. Diallo then punched the attacker, identified as Earl D. Nash, multiple times.

Nash was found by police with severe body and head trauma and was pronounced dead at Lincoln Hospital.
