BALTIMORE — Nyquist is unbeaten no more.

The Kentucky Derby winner was run down in the stretch by Exaggerator who won the Preakness Stakes.

Kent Desormeaux (deh-SOR’-moh) kept Exaggerator close to Nyquist who went to the front right out of the gate.

After Exaggerator overtook the tiring Nyquist, the Derby winner veered off the rail but couldn’t rally.

Exaggerator had lost in four previous races with Nyquist in the field.

Cherry Wine finished second and jockey Mario Gutierrez had Nyquist hold on for third on a muddy track after day-long rain. Nyquist had won his previous eight races.
