SPRINGFIELD —  House lawmakers sent Gov. Rauner a bill to decriminalize small amounts marijuana across the state today.

Under the proposal, people caught with small amounts of marijuana would be fined instead of jailed.

The legislation takes into account changes Rauner suggested last year when he vetoed a similar measure.

The new version drops the number of grams allowed from 15 to ten and increases the range of fines to up to 200 dollars.

A similar measure already passed in Chicago.
