1 killed in armed robbery at Boost Mobile in South Holland; police seek suspect

SOUTH HOLLAND, Ill. – Suburban police are searching for a suspect in a violent cell phone store robbery that left one person dead.

Police say two men were involved in the robbery of the Boost Mobile store at 1022 E 162nd St in South Holland. So far, one has been arrested.

Police say the suspects robbed the store around 2 p.m. Tuesday.

Police say there were several customers inside the store at the time.

One person was shot during the robbery and later taken to a hospital in Harvey, where he later died.

Family members of the victim have identified him as Christopher Lloyd. Business owners say he was a customer. He is also believed to be 45-years-old.

Boost Mobile released the following statement:

"We are heartbroken and saddened by this tragic loss. We are assisting local officials with their investigation and will continue to provide information and cooperation as the investigation proceeds. Our hearts and prayers are with his family."

One suspect was arrested in the armed robbery after a brief police chase. The other remains on the loose.
