ROBBINS, Ill. – A young mother was killed in a head-on collision in Southwest suburban Robbins.

Robbins Police say the crash happened around 3 p.m. near 136th Street and Pulaski Road and involved a black Dodge Charger and a silver Chevrolet Camaro.

Janeka Hicks, 26, of the 13900 block of Central Park in Robbins was driving the Dodge Charger and was hit head-on by the Camaro as she drove northbound on 136th Street near Pulaski Road.

One witness told the Chicago Tribune that Hicks’ 4-month-old daughter was pulled from the back seat of the Charger as it caught fire.

Hicks was taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The driver of the Camaro was also injured and taken to the hospital.

Police say the baby was not injured but was taken to the hospital for observation.

Robert Szymanski, of Chicago Ridge, tells the Tribune he was traveling southbound on Pulaski as the Charger passed in the northbound lanes at a high speed.
