LOXAHATCHEE, Fla. — Authorities in Florida recently made a surprising discovery during a routine traffic stop.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission shared a photo to Facebook Monday that looks like something out of a horror film: an alligator foot peeking out of the dashboard of a truck.
The organization explained on social media that it all began when two officers pulled over the truck to inspect the truck’s day-use pass for a wildlife center in Loxahatchee, Florida. When they approached the truck, they saw inside scattered alligator parts.
“The driver told our officers that the parts were from an alligator he hunted a few years ago, but our officers could smell that the alligator had been taken recently,” the commission said on Facebook.
Authorities said the man later confessed to killing the alligator just a few days before, without a permit. He was cited for the violation but not identified.
The post drew dozens of comments on Facebook, with many users saying it was “creepy” that someone would decorate his truck with alligator parts. Others complimented the commission for enforcing the penalties.
