Man fatally shot on I-57

CALUMET PARK, Ill. -- A 39-year-old man was shot and killed on Interstate 57 near 130th street Wednesday night.

Illinois State Police say the victim was traveling southbound on I-57 near the Cal Sag bridge at about 10:30 p.m., when a vehicle pulled alongside him and opened fire.

The 39-year-old man lost control of his car, traveled across the lanes of the highway and crashed into the left concrete median.

There was no one else in the car.

Police say the man had been shot multiple times, but do not know whether he was targeted.

No one is in custody.
