CHICAGO —  Chicago is preparing to honor one of its brightest young stars.

“Jane the Virgin” star Gina Rodriguez grew up on Chicago’s northwest side.

And 36th Ward Alderman Gilbert Villegas wants to rename the block where she grew up in her honor.

He’s sponsoring plans to rename the 2300 block Keating Ave as “Honorary Gina Rodriquez Way.”

If the full city council approves, there could be a ceremony this fall, just in time for Jane the Virgin’s third season.

You can watch Gina Rodriguez Monday nights at 8 p.m. on WGN.
