CHICAGO — A Chicago man has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder in last June’s shooting deaths of two men on the city’s West Side.

Chicago Police say that 31-year-old Jose Ortiz was arrested on the city’s Southwest Side on Friday.

Ortiz is suspected in the June 7 shooting deaths of 19-year-old Richard Rodriguez and 19-year-old Jossean Rueda. The men were driving in the Austin neighborhood when someone in another vehicle opened fire.

According to the Chicago Tribune, one of the victims was shot in the head and torso, and the second man also was shot in the torso. Both men were initially taken in critical condition to Stroger Hospital and were later pronounced dead.
