Gary woman, 19, among 2 university students dead in Louisiana shooting

BATON ROUGE, Louisiana — Police in Louisiana say two university students were shot to death in Baton Rouge early Sunday.

Baton Rouge Police say one of the Southern University students was pronounced dead at the scene. The other died shortly after. Both were 19 years old.

One of the victims is 19-year-old Annette January, a native of Gary, Indiana. The other victim is a 19-year-old woman from Louisiana. January was a freshman and member of the track and field team.

A third person, a 24-year-old man who suffered gunshot injuries, is expected to recover.

Police said in an emailed statement that there are "no known suspects or motives at this time."
