Woman killed, man seriously injured in Humboldt Park fire

CHICAGO -- One person is dead and another is in critical condition after a fire in a Humboldt Park apartment.

The fire started just before 1 a.m. Wednesday in a building at the corner of Hamlin Avenue and Augusta Boulevard.

Firefighters found a 72-year-old woman unresponsive in a second floor apartment.

She later died at the hospital.

A 74-year-old man suffered smoke inhalation and was taken to the hospital.

The cause of the fire is unknown.
