Girl, 14, critically wounded in accidental shooting

CHICAGO -- Police say a girl was transported to Comer Children's Hospital on Tuesday after suffering a gunshot wound to the neck.

According to police the girl was sitting at a kitchen table when someone pulled out a gun to show it to her. The gun accidentally went off, and she was struck in the neck.

The incident happened about 3:30 p.m.  Tuesday on the 7100 block of South Ingleside in the city's Grand Crossing neighborhood.

The girl's name and age have not been released. She is in critical condition at the hospital.

No one is in custody.
