Flags to half-staff in Indiana for slain deputy

INDIANAPOLIS — Flags in Indiana will fly at half-staff today to honor a Sheriff’s Deputy who was killed in the line of duty.

Deputy Carl Koontz died Sunday after a shootout at a mobile home in a small town 60 miles north of Indianapolis.

Another deputy was shot and injured.

The suspected shooter was killed in a standoff with a SWAT team.

Koontz served on the force for three years.

He is survived by his wife and his eight-month-old son.
