FOX LAKE, Ill. — Two men who were questioned by Fox Lake police following the death of Lt. Joe Gliniewicz are filing a lawsuit.

Preston Shrewsburty and Manuel Vargas say they were targeted as suspects in the days after Gliniewicz’s Sept. 1 death.

“There were no facts which would support probable cause to take these individuals into custody and constantly harass them,” attorney Gregory Kulis said in a news release.

Authorities ultimately concluded that Gliniewicz committed suicide, and later his wife Melodie Gliniewicz was charged with money laundering and misuse of charitable funds.

Defendants listed in the lawsuit include former Fox Lake Police Chief Michael Behan, several unnamed Fox Lake officers and the villages of Fox Lake and Libertyville.
